His plea is part of a federal strategy, &#8220;Operation Take Back America,&#8221; aimed at dismantling transnational criminal organizations like the Sinaloa Cartel.<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p>Who are the Chapitos?<\/p>\n<p>The Chapitos are four sons of El Chapo, a former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.<\/p>\n<p>The Sinaloa Cartel had two leaders: Joaqu\u00edn \u201cEl Chapo\u201d Guzman and Ismael \u201cEl Mayo\u201d Zambada.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_147905\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-147905\" style=\"width: 437px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-147905\" src=\"https:\/\/www.worldtribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ElChapo-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"437\" height=\"262\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-147905\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joaqu\u00edn \u2018El Chapo\u2019 Guzm\u00e1n is extradited to the U.S. from Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez in Mexico in January 2017. \/ Interior Ministry, Mexico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>El Chapo was captured in 2016 and extradited to the United States in 2017. So four sons of el Chapo,\u00a0<em>Los Chapitos<\/em>, kept up their end of the cartel.<\/p>\n<p>The four Chapitos are<br \/>\n1. Ovidio Guzman Lopez<br \/>\n2. Joaquin Guzman Lopez<br \/>\n3. Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar<br \/>\n4. Jes\u00fas Alfredo Guzman Salazar<\/p>\n<p>By utilizing the Spanish-language dual surname system you can see that Chapitos #1 and #2 have one mother, and numbers #3 and #4 have another mother. But they are all 4 sons of El Chapo and they are all four chips off the old block.<\/p>\n<p>Where are they now?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ovidio Guzman Lopez<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ovidio was captured in 2023 and extradited to the United States later that year. Ovidio made a plea bargain with the court and recently pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_147903\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-147903\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-147903\" src=\"https:\/\/www.worldtribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Ovidio-300x274.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"274\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-147903\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ovidio Guzman Lopez. \/ U.S. State Department<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From a July 11th\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/war-cartels-yields-results-el-chapo-heir-confesses-running-violent-drug-empire\">Fox News article<\/a><\/span>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cOne of the sons of notorious drug lord \u2018El Chapo\u2019 pleaded guilty in a U.S. federal court in Chicago to major drug charges and running the Sinaloa Cartel in his father\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ovidio Guzman Lopez, 35, admitted to running part of the Sinaloa Cartel, coordinating massive drug shipments, including fentanyl, heroin and cocaine into the U.S. and using violence to protect cartel operations, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Northern District of Illinois\u2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Guzman Lopez admitted in the plea agreement that he coordinated the transportation of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and other drugs\u00a0and precursor chemicals from Mexico to the United States border, at times in shipments of hundreds or thousands of kilograms, according to federal officials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">He used a network of couriers affiliated with the cartel to smuggle the drugs into the United States, using vehicles, rail cars, tunnels, aircraft and other means, the plea agreement states.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">After the drugs were distributed throughout the United States, officials said, individuals working for Guzman Lopez used bulk cash transport, wire transfers, trade of goods and cryptocurrency to launder the illicit proceeds and ensure that the money was transmitted to Guzman Lopez and other members of the cartel in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Guzman Lopez then admitted he and his cartel associates committed violent acts against law enforcement officials, civilians and rival drug traffickers to protect the cartel\u2019s drug-trafficking activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ovidio has not yet been sentenced.<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Joaquin Guzman Lopez<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_147904\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-147904\" style=\"width: 159px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-147904\" src=\"https:\/\/www.worldtribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Joaquin-191x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"250\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-147904\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joaquin Guzman Lopez \/ U.S. State Department<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2024, Joaquin, [aka as \u201cEl G\u00fcero Moreno\u201d]\u2019 flew to El Paso, Texas, with Ismael \u201cEl Mayo\u201d Zambada the other leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, where both were arrested by U.S. authorities.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s believed that this was a result of a deal with the U.S. government made by Joaquin, although El Mayo was tricked into going.<\/p>\n<p>The cases of both of these men are pending.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile back in Sinaloa, a\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/03\/sinaloa-cartels-chapitos-faction-is-going-downhill-and-may-be-on-the-way-out\/\">war broke out between the two factions and is still going on<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Chapito is still at large.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. government is offering a $10 million bounty for information leading to his capture.<\/p>\n<p>Here is his wanted poster:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2699 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-16-1024x1024.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-16-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-16-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-16-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-16-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-16.png 1080w\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"260\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Archivaldo\u2019s Wanted Poster.
