Victory over Japan, 70 years on

Today is V-J Day (Victory over Japan) in Britain; in the U.S., it was celebrated on Sept. 2, the day of the surrender ceremony on the USS Missouri, in Tokyo Bay. Following were the headlines on the New York Herald Tribune about the news of Aug. 14, 1945:
