State senator issues statement after man found in Charlotte women’s bathroom

CHARLOTTE – In the latest controversy over House Bill 2, State Senator Phil Berger released a statement that includes details of a Charlotte woman who alerted police after she said she found a man in a stall next to her engaging in inappropriate sexual activity.

Berger said North Carolina courts ruled a man who goes into a women’s bathroom commits criminal trespassing.

He went on to write to Charlotte leaders stating:

“Roy Cooper, Jennifer Roberts, and anyone else actively fighting the commonsense bathroom safety bill need to explain why they think what this man put this woman through in a Charlotte bathroom this week should be legal.”
