The owner of a Chinese firm shelled out $21.2 million in cash for more than 1,500 acres of property in California that sits just 16 miles from the U.S.’s hub for Pacific carrier-based F-35 fighter fleets, according to a report by investigative journalist Natalie Winters.
Long Feng International, a corporation classified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as Chinese-owned, purchased the land near Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore in California’s Central Valley.
The owner has not been publicly identified.
State corporate records show Long Feng was formed in May 2024, roughly six months before the land transaction was logged in the USDA’s foreign-landholding database. Additional parcel shifts and documentation references emerged in early 2026.
During the 2024 election campaign, President Donald Trump vowed to prohibit Chinese nationals from buying U.S. farmland or owning American telecommunications, energy, technology, or medical supplies companies.
“China is buying up our technology. They’re buying up food supplies. They’re buying up our farmland. They’re buying up our minerals and natural resources. They’re buying up our ports and shipping terminals. And with the help of corrupt influence-peddlers like the Biden crime family, China is even trying to buy up the pillars of the U.S. energy industry,” Trump said in a video released on Truth Social in January 2023.
“We should stop all future Chinese purchases in these essential industries. And we should begin the process of forcing the Chinese to sell any current holdings that put our national security at risk,” Trump added. “If we don’t do this, the United States will be owned by China, which would make them very happy. When I’m president, I will ensure that America’s future remains firmly in American hands, just as I did when I was president before. It’ll happen again and our country will be stronger than ever.”
